Please Don’t Go.

I can’t stand to think about the places you’re going.
I hope the trees are tall there,
wherever you’re going.
I’m gonna miss you the way I miss summer
after the frost’s set in,
braid my trembling fingers
as I wait for you in the wind.

I’ll wait for you till my knees give out
and my toes go numb
and my hair falls out.
I’ll wait for you till you come back to me.

And I’m sure it’s warm there,
wherever you’re going.
